Taking the IG Public - RECAP

It has been a LOONG while since my last post. To my very few readers out there, I apologies. If you follow me on Instagram, you probably saw that I was always at some work event. However, that just gave me a little more time to observe how I felt about taking my Instagram public. And I'd have to say...

I approve!

I got what I wanted out of going public and the worst that could happen was very minuscule.

Cons:

Got a few followers that were from "adult" accounts. However, all it takes is a quick click on the block button to fix that problem.

There were a few "hey cutie" messages and instantly I opened that message and left them on read. Is that mean? NO. I also learned:

Tinder and a Public IG don't mix!

During a girls trip in San Francisco, my friend who's also single convinced me to start a tinder account to find people to show us around and maybe to keep around for another SF trip.😉

In my account I listed my IG account, which was a bad idea. Instead of swiping left and never seeing that people pop up on my phone again, I would get message requests on my Instagram. (Now one of them actually happened to be a cool connection through college. Go Cougs!) So you know immediately I deleted that information in my bio.

Pros:

More meaningful followers. Although Instagram makes friend suggestions, if others are like me they'll ask themselves, "will this person fill my feed with meaningful content?" So I'd like to believe that's why people added me, because that's how I make the judgement to add someone I've never met in person.

Most importantly, I got to interact with people in my community that I've never met. This was the main reason I wanted to go public. I even got the opportunity to give out some tickets to followers who simply told me why they love the Grizzlies and meet them in person. I now have more people asking me not only about what promotions my team has going on, but also about the other events I attend in the area.

So if you are considering going public - in the wise word of Shia LaBeouf...

Lastly! I promise I will try to post weekly!

Your writing is awesome and you inspire me. I wish I could be more concise with my thoughts and not ramble like a madman.
