I Don’t Dress Up for You, I Dress Up for Myself

Let me start with how I LOVE TO WEAR HEALS! Yes, those torturous contraptions women put on their feet that are the definition of “beauty is pain” are what I live for! Although, my feet my get blistered and I choose to pay $45 twice a month for a pedicure, there is something so empowering about physically raising yourself 3 to 4 inches higher.
Now, for those of you who may have came across my blog by accident, I work in sports where business casual is the norm. In fact, if Khakis and a polo could be painted on our body permanently and be appropriate, most would probably take that option. Although, if I’m being honest…
I hate wearing khakis and a polo!
What I can’t stand even more is being asked “who are you all dolled up for?” because I’m not wearing the unofficial “official” uniform. Then I say, “For my damn self, that’s who!” Not really, but I say that in my head.
For me dressing up is all a mental trick I like to use on myself. I get it, Khakis and the polo are comfortable and easy, but that’s the problem for me. When I feel comfortable and cozy, I'm not ready to hustle and grind.
Now some of you would probably disagree with me and even say that you’d get more work done in sweats and a t-shirt. That's a fair opinion, it's just not for me. Here are my 3 reasons I disagree with the comfortable look.

1) Beating Monday’s
“I got a case of the Monday’s”, you hear it all the time. I try not to fall into that negativity that Monday’s suck. I get excited to start the week off. Maybe I’m an alien, but truly it’s all a positive mindset. Like everyone else I do have those morning that I'm a little slow, but to defeat that feeling I “clean up”. If I dress like I’m ready to get shit done, I will feel like I’m ready to get shit done. Just saying, it’s all a mindset.
2) Out-dressing everyone
You know that embarrassed feeling of being overdressed? Ignore it, and embrace standing out. There’s no better feeling than not only looking your best, but looking the best overall.
3) Let your confidence be as high as your heels!
That saying speaks for itself and if you’re a dude (who doesn’t wear high heels) find that one thing that makes you feel like a “G”. Maybe you put on your freshest pair of shoes or a nice watch to spice things up.
In the end, all I want to encourage is:
Look your best, to feel your best!
